Using a 'play and learn' approach, we will explore colour pigments and patterns in Nature, linking them to vision, mimetism and camouflage.
This session will include a hands-on simple and safe 'experiment': paper chromatography to extract/separate pigments from some organic materials (e.g.spinach and carrot), and from felt pens and other inorganic materials with which the kids are familiar.
During the session we will also use a few textile based materials for a camouflage game, and online family-friendly tools such as SCRATCH junior to explore the topic further.
