Since the new regulations came in 2015 for knowledge of Life in the UK and English Language requirement for Indefinite Stay and British Citizenship applications, people are struggling to pass these exams.

These new regulations require everyone to pass their B1 English Test at an approved SELT Centre. There are very few SELT exam centres in the UK. Prior to this you could pass any Ofqual registered ESOL Entry 3 exam in speaking and listening to meet this requirement.

Many people are struggling to pass this B1 English exam in speaking and listening because sometimes they live very far away from the test centre and are finding it difficult to travel. These approved English exam centres are only available in major cities such as London, Manchester, Leeds, Peterborough, Birmingham, Glasgow, Cardiff and Belfast.

Some of the students are unable to find any ESOL courses are classes because many centres have shut down and local community centres don’t have enough funding to offer these courses to help students to prepare for their English exams for the Home Office. Other problem is that many of the students are working long hours and do not get enough time to study at home. Many of them don’t even have friends to practice English language or ask for any guidance.
